Transylvania & Dracula-part II

Part 2.
Dracula-Castle-wedding-planner-adrianaWhat Do Romanians Think About It?
That’s a good question! Many of them don’t really care! As simple as that. They simply don’t consider it as one of their legends, since there are so many other legends enriching their folklore. Romanian people do appreciate stories that tell about kindness and beauty, like Ileana Cosanzeana and Fat Frumos din Lacrima. Ileana stands for the feminine beauty, the most beautiful amongst the fairies; her eyes look like the sun, her body is like the sea and her garments are made of flowers; pearls and gold flow out of her mouth when she sings and uses her power of white magic to heal or revive. Fat-Frumos, akin to Prince Charming, is a knight hero possessing courage, purity, justness, physical and spiritual strength, cleverness, passion, and unshakable love. Then there are the animal fables and fairytales: Capra cu trei iezi (The Goat with Its Three Kids), illustrating the motherly love and childish disobedience, Cei trei purcelusi (Three Little Pigs), speaking about how hard work and patience pays off in the end. This is the genuine Romanian folklore. Does it come as nonsense to you? I assure you this is the truth. Romanians don’t mention Dracula if not as a historical figure. But recently, some people have started to grasp another viewpoint. Even if Dracula is only a legend, it can mean a good opportunity for foreigners to come to Romania. This country will finally be known better.  It could all start with your curiosity, but in the end the legend will lead you to awesome places, hospitable people and beautiful traditions.
That’s exactly why I thought about giving you this chance. Why getting married in exotic places where everybody else can go? Choose a unique wedding destination, where the spectacular scenery and its medieval castles form the perfect setting for your wedding, whether you believe or not in vampires! :)

Transylvania & Dracula

Part 1. The Legend
Transylvania, place of legends and myths. Who hasn’t heard of Dracula or seen at least one movie with this famous character? But how much truth lies behind the story? Are there vampires in Romania? Many foreign authors have written about it but have you ever wondered what do Romanians think about it? Well, I am Romanian, so am I one of Dracula’s heirs?  Hm…that’s an intriguing question! I don’t feel like intermingling my roots with the count’s ones, but indeed there is a touch of mystery-history of which every Romanian is proud of.  What’s real about this legend is that the name Dracula and the concept of impaling did exist. The name comes from the Order of  Dragon, a chivalric order founded by Sigismund of Hungary in 1408. It was an order for selected and brave nobility . In the shadowy Middle Ages,  men would fight as often as we nowadays play videogames, so there was a strong need to praise their courageous deeds in the battles. Vlad II, duke of Wallachia (a region of Romania)  received the surname Dracul in 1431, after being inducted into the Order of the Dragon and this is how all started.  By the way, in Romanian language, dracul sends back to two interpretations: one linking to the origins of the surname, the House of Draculesti and the other recalling the popular meaning of little devil. However it was Vlad III, the son of Vlad Dracul, that became famous due to his practice of impaling his enemies. After centuries, here came Bram stocker, who decided to enhance these stories and turn them into a legend. No more speaking about the real count Vlad Tepes (the Impaler). Now the audience wants blood so the count has to be transformed into a vampire. Well, that’s the price of fame; after all, if you want to impress, you have to exaggerate. Venice Must Haves

When I go to Venice…..I never line up for the ferry. I prefer walking to San Marco Square. My favorite place to have an aperitif is in the luxurious context of  Metropole Hotel, where the delicate flavors accompany this magic place softly enlightened by white candles. Be it in its Oriental Bar or Garden-Oasis, the atmosphere here is always created by means of a profusion  of candles and subtle incenses, in accordance with the smartness of its 5 stars. Then, I adore losing myself on the narrow streets admiring the shops and the Venetian jewelry art crafts; in fact,  I never leave Venice without a new set of earrings or a new bracelet. Of course, I try to keep myself away from big shops in big areas (not many in this place) and I prefer to discover the little ones, away from the tourists’ noisy footstep and voices. My best memories of this fantastic and hypnotic city are years back, when together with my future husband, I would stay still on the top of Rialto Bridge and admire a rainy sunset. Nobody around us, except the spirit of the true old Venice. Not enough words to describe it! Now I gladly go back to Venice whenever I can, to have inspiration for my next weddings in Venice or simply to admire its seductiveness, its aura of mystery and exoticism. If your dream is coming to Venice and even more, getting married in the lagoon city, you are in the right place. Our team will take care of your dreams so that they can become true!
